Growing out of the Stripe
August 2024
"Growing out of the Stripe" was the challenge suggested by Carol. She found it in a book by a tapestry artist and thought the title would work for us.
Carol took a course at Convergence this past summer that used wire in weaving. This beautiful piece is standing up on its own. There are stripes there.
This view show a little the wavey form. We love the beads.
Terry has always liked doing rag rugs. This is one of he favorite designs. Notice the stripes are inside stripes to make bigger stripes. They are growing out!
This detail shows the stripes a little better.
Claudia created this truly charming piece. The stripe truly does grow out into the surrounding plain weave.
She said that the stripe is done in a twill and the rest is plain weave. Challenging to combine the two.
Thomas added the stripe to his 22 shaft double weave. Love those spectacular colors.
And, indeed, the stripe grows up and out. Reminds one of a tree.
Katy always surprises. This is a close up view of a conspicuously striped animal.
Here is a picture of the whole piece being held by her and Claudia. Can you see the animal now?.
