OUR GROUP CHALLENGES
Shifting Harmony
April 2025
A reminder that the images below are links to enlarged versions.
"Shifting Harmony" was the challenge suggested by Carol. She found a number of challenge ideas in a book on tapestry. This is one of them and she will start us off.

Carol got wonderful harmony in this scarf.
 .
She used a space dyed yarn to get the color progressions.
 .
And added some finer weft yarn to define areas. This made some beautiful color progressions.

Katy thought of the harmonies of the legendary rock group the Supremes.

The image is from an album cover. The text from a article about Diana Ross shifting away from the group.

Shifting Harmony indeed! .

Thomas did this charming piece in paper. But wait. It changes!

Here is the piece after Thomas worked the magic of shifting the harmonies.

And here is the back that shows how the shift was done. Clever!

Terry changed the colors across the width of the warp for this table runner.

The shift is accomplished by alternating two ends for a space between the areas of solid color.

The weft is just there to show a little pattern. The runner is a change on his dining table from the usual full table cloth.

Claudia loves working with this yarn. And she is still fascinaated by the houndstooth patterns she saw a lot of in a recent vacation.

She initially had a darker red in the warp but felt it was too much like Christmas so she swapped it out for this shade.

Just love the little spangle that occasionally pops up.

Ronnie is back! Yay. She brough two pieces. This, the first one, is for our previous challenge "Modulation".

She modualted from one pattern to another over the length of her warp.

Once again her skill with chenille is superb.

This is Ronnies answer to the challenge of the day "Shifting Harmony"
.

The design is wonderful and the choice of color is spot on.

With her skill in chenille no one is better. Brava!
