OUR GROUP CHALLENGES
Circus - March 2020
"Circus" was the challenge suggested by Terry. Just showing the supplied pictures here. Some of them are not in the large format when you click on them because of the size emailed. There was no physical meeting and therefore no comments below the pictures. Some interesting work nevertheless.
Terry says When I think of the Circus I think of clowns. And when I think of clowns I think of the outrageous costumes they wear often with crazy patterns. What could be more goofy than multicolored polka dots.
Terry had a lot of problems weaving this. For some reason my loom was in rebellion and kept dropping some tie ups. He got this far (one towel!) and gave up. It was to be a whole set of them but he just couldn't go on with it and sacrificed the remainder of the warp.

Leila says The Circus: Color, Texture and Light. Missing sound and smell! .
Maybe the sound and smell are missing but this scarf more than compensates.
Carol:I remember as a kid going to a local circus and the tent had red diamonds along the top.
The weave has a tabby of 20/2 cotton with mop yarn for the pattern. It has the bumpy feel of rep weave but it’s classified as diversified plain weave on 8 shafts. .
Ronnie sees a one, two or three ring circus here. Nicely done.
Ronnie says there is a trapeze in this shot.
For Darby the Circus is popcorn and music.
Wall hanging is 12 x 20. Linen warp with Cotton and Wool weft.
