A View of Nature
October 2014
"A View of Nature" was Leila's challenge. As it was her challenge we let her go first.
These are splendid colors which are so easily found in nature.
Leila is not afraid to try anything. Look at that hatching toward the end of the scarf. Excellent!
Barbara brought a piece that was knitted this time. The yarn is hand spun with natural dyes.
Great workmanship for sure.
Terry was looking close to a tree trunk for this inspiration.
Commercial cotton warp with his hand spun wool weft.
Not happy with his response to the challenge, Terry brought in this table runner called "Forest Floor, Autumn".
The polymid ombre ribbon was used in this overshot pattern to give the look of fallen leaves.
First timer Ann brought some very interesting books about weaving and this wonderful scarf she purchased at a conference some years ago.
Great use of a painted warp.
Darby made this terrific mat in rep weave.
And indeed it is the very nature of winter. Hope you made lots of them.
Sue's View of Nature is a view of HUMAN nature. We want everything and there is a bit of everything in this piece.
Don't you just love this close up? Great to see the structure as well as those terrific colors.
Ronnie did these wonderful note cards with images of trees. Super! Think how nice it would be to get one of these in the mail.
We all thought that there was a market for them but she says she never wants to do this again. Shame because they are lovely.
