OUR GROUP CHALLENGES

Not the Same Old Thing
June 2019

"Not The Same Old Thing" was Darby's challenge. We think a lot of us got a common theme with this challenge. See if you can see what it is.

Over last summer Darby had the occasion to try out some dying with the Guild in Albany. The mixed band here is the result.

It is wonderful how she got all of the colors to work together. Another superb rug. Some one will become a very luck owner.

Terry also does some spinning. His stash of completed yarn was building up so it was time to use some in a scarf. The warp is all hand spun Blue Faced Leister wool. The weft is a Merino and Silk blend.

The warp was dyed before it was woven. The Swedish Lace was chosen to show off he color variations in the warp.

Claudia always comes up with something so different. These wonderful book marks were a part of her stash she worked into terrific works

Woven yes but it almost looks braided. So imaginative.

Ronnie found this terrific design in Orimono Soshiki Hen Textile System. It certainly feels very Japanese.

The pattern works so well with the chenille that Ronnie loves to use. Another beautiful scarf will find a lucky home this holiday season we bet.

Leila created this fabulous scarf for her cousin whom she visits every summer. Her cousin spun the yarn and dyed it. The weft yarn is all from the cousin's alpaca herd.

What can we say but lucky cousin.
