OUR GROUP CHALLENGES
"I know that I have lived"
November 2017
"I know that I have lived" was the challenge suggested by Leila. She will start us off.
Leila says "I know that I have lived" because this is her very first piece of weaving ever.
She was already showing the daring she brings to her weaving. Wonderful variety of technique as well as texture and color.
Terry says "I know that I have lived" because the weft in this scarf was entirely his handspun, hand dyed silk.
Commmercial silk was the warp. Not so great dyeing of the weft gives this piece a little life.
Ronnie says "I know that I have lived" because in a previous life she was Martha Washington and would sit on the porch at Mt. Vernon and weave Colonial Overshot.
This wonderful chenille scarf certainly fills the bill. Ronnie always does such wonderful work.
Darby says "I know that I have lived" because the stripes in this rug represent all the different phases of her life: Infant, toddler, child, teenager, etc.
What splendid colors. What wonderful weaving.
Claudia says "I know that I have lived" because this represents all the significant events in her life. Documents of her marriage certificate. Pictures of her family.
We think the addition of the occasional brush of color adds a lot to this memory piece. Nicely done Claudia.
