OUR GROUP CHALLENGES
4X4X4X4
July 2018
"4X4X4X4" was the challenge suggested by Sue in memory of Myra Dorman who originally offered this challenge to the Albany group Arachne. What it meant was the cloth had to be woven on four shafts, with four treadles, four colors and four different yarns.
Carol used blue in four different shades for this broken twill scarf. The variegated sock yarn adds some aqua accents..
Leila used some of Darby's metallic threads to create a lovely light scarf. The darker stripes accentuated the metallic sheen...
Ronnie added a fifth color for the tabby in this soft chenille scarf. One side is predominantly red and the other is blue. The structure is from the Stubenitsky Code.
Claudia wove two scarves and included sample cards of the yarns used in them. The maroon one was a very soft linen, silk, mohair, wool blend, while the beige one was a combination of boucles..
Darby's boundweave rug mixes black, royal blue, white and denim for a striking design.
Terry showed off dish towels in a three-color stripe with a fourth color as the weft. The bumberet pattern is good for toweling he has been told.
