OUR GROUP CHALLENGES
Continuation
February 2017
"Lumpy and Bumpy" was the challenge given to us by Darby. She starts off below.
Darby created this great rug from slevages of commercial weaving.
What wonderful colors and it is lumpy and bumpy indeed.
Terry's first attempt was not that successful. Tried for differential shrinkage but it did not quite work.
Oh well. Someone may like it for the colors.
The second attempt worked a lot better. Silk warp and handspun weft.
This time the differential shrinkage worked.
Claudia did this on a stretcher frame and not her floor loom. Hard to argue with the success of this terrific piece.
Just had to take a close up. The text reads "fasten your seatbelts". Bumpy ride indeed.
Ronnie had this great novelty yarn in the weft. Certainly had lumps and bumps.
What a great color combination. Another home run!
Leila got the lumpy and bumpy part with the novelty yarns.
The pale colors are not her usual saturated ones but what a splendid work.
Carie got the lumpy and bumpy by mixing different weights of yarn in the warp. Some really beautiful colors here.
She didn't know what to do with the fringe so left it for the members to suggest. Twisted? Braided? We're sure it will be fabulous.
