Pastel
March 2024
"Pastel" was the challenge suggested by Terry.
Terry Wove this with weft that he spun. The space dyed merino made color change automatic and easy.
Warp is commercial bamboo. Block twills create the pattern.
Carol made this great towel in cottolin. What a beautiful interplay of colors.
She also says that she has had shrinkage problems (a large percentage!) with the yarn. Still looks wonderfu. By the way the little hanging loop is handwoven as well on an inkle loom.
Thomas was working out some designs in double weave. This piece is extraordinary.
It is done wit (I believe I heard this) twenty shafts. The warp and weft are very fine linen singles.
Claudia reworked a pattern from an earlier challenge. This time it is to be a birthday gift for one of her sisters.
She pointed out a neat techinque of using the weft yarn as a floating selvage to get a clean frame on the selvage.
Katy showed this sample of when she was working in Rose Path. Really handsome pattern for a bathmat.
It really brings a lot of style to a rag rug. !
Katy brought this recent project to show as well. Her niece is soon expecting the birth of a son. This will eventually be a cube stuffed. !
The letters are his name in English and Farsi.
In going trough his stash, Terry found these colors in carpet warp. Pastel? I think so.
He jus tcouldn't resist making his small rag rug.
