A design structure from an ancient source
September 2021
"A design structure from an ancient source" was the Leila;s challenge.

Leila actually took the look of a very old ruin to model the look of her scarf. It shows the bricks and the vegitation growing over the ruins. Very well captured.

As always Leila shows some spectacular weaving.

Terry took the challenge to mean a structure in weaving so this is a Chinese knot pattern. The material is all bamboo.

Pattern was difficult to weave because the tie up allowed for one shaft to keep rising when it wasn't supposed to. Meant a lot of manual intervention.

Ronnie said that the ancient structure for her was twill. Probably no one knows how old it is or where it came from.

But, Ronnie says, maybe few have used space dyed warp in this way. Really lovely.

Claudia used plain weave but in a very effective way. The linen warp and weft are all purchases she made on a trip to France.

Really beautiful color combination.

Carol found this wonderful pattern that was called Aztec ????. It really looks like it originated in Latin America doesn't it?

It was apparently a tricky pattern to get on the loom and woven correctly. Results are spectacular though.
